I didn't enjoy this book quite as much as the second in the trilogy but I still loved it. I'm sad to leave these characters behind as I really enjoyed their stories. It got repetitive in places, but I found the pacing of the book meant it didn't bother me too much as the story was always moving. This was my entry in to V.E Schwab's writing and I'm excited to pick up more by her.

3,5/5 !

I wish i could have liked this book more but, as the previous one, I found a lot of scenes to be dragged on for way too long and some could have been cut to make it a little bit more fast-paced. I think I feel this way about these two sequels because the first one was very well constructed, with a good and balanced rhytmn, while these other two were just one event after the other, all happening at the same time because of the different POVs, ending up in a story that is not proceeding forward but just switching character.
While on the one hand I liked how we could see what was happening in different parts of London at the same time, I felt like some arts were really unnecessary. Sometimes I found myself thinking "wow, this scene would work really well in a movie" or "this scene cut would be perfect for a tv series"! And I mean it. It felt like I was reading a movie, and as I said before, while it can be good because every scene was depicted in detail, it's still a book and sometimes too many details are just too much.

Anywayyy, I liked this book and I liked the character developments. Apart from Lila, I still hate her and find her utterly annoying lol.
But Holland. HOLLAND. He definitely became one of my favorite characters ever. His development is astounding and by the end I couldn't help but want to hug him. In the second book we got a glimpse of what it means to live in White London, but it's not until this last book that we can understand why he is the way he is. He had to go through so much in his life, always chained or tortured by someone and I swear to god, when Lila told him "You're always looking to be chained to someone" I wanted to bad to punch her in the face and I so wished that he'd strangle her on the spot.
She is so annoying. SO ANNOYING. She is a brat, a know-it-all, who thinks that just because she has lived alone all her life she knows better than everyone else. Guess what? You're not the only one with problems. Get over it. Thank god the author didn't revolve the story around Kell's and hers love story because I would have not hesitated in dropping the book halfway. Thank you Schwab.

I think there are a few plotholes in the story and I don't know if the author is thinking about adding another book to the series, but there a few points here and there which remain unsolved. Idk, maybe she wanted to leave something to our imagination, but I'd have it to be more complete.

¡Hola!

Nonstop gut punch the whole way through 😭 I don’t think I’ve ever read anything that had me on edge from page 1 to the end before like this but leave it to V. E. Schwab to do just that 😭
