I didn’t love this book. I didn’t hate it but I often found myself getting annoyed and ready for it to be over. It was a quick read and the story was good enough for me to want to finish it but I still found it disappointing. It was very repetitive. I was also expecting more of a psychological thriller, (is she just being paranoid, what’s real and what’s in her head, etc) but it wasn’t like that at all. I found the daughter to be annoying. I was an angsty teen once, I get it, but that girl wasn’t even capable of having a normal conversation. Everything from her was eye rolls, complaints and irrational reactions.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! I knew Rachel wasn’t just paranoid but that she had a reason to double check the locks on her house and be worried where her kids went! I was very intrigued on if Rachel had really killed her brother. She seemed innocent but she even thought she was guilty! There were several twists and the end was completely surprising! I didn’t even guess it! A very good and quick read.
I really enjoyed this book. It ended up being a lot different than what I thougt it was hoping to involve. I love the twists. I was able to catch some clues while reading. I'm going to be looking fur more book by this author and her sister.

I have read Lisa Jackson since I was little and this book did not disappoint ☺️
This book was REALLY amazing, except for it’s end. Well, it’s ending sort of makes it up, but not fully. The plot twist was VERY unexpected, the first of the three that are in this book. It was truly shocking. The other two were shocking, but not as much as the first.
*SPOILERS AHEAD*
First of all, Ned being revealed as Luke’s true killer. Woah. I was open-mouthed and spluttering while reading this. It took me a minute to fully comprehend this. This made me dislike him, due to him letting Rachel suffer with the guilt for 20 years.
Second, the fact that Lucas was the murderer. That was unexpected, but not quite as shocking to me compared to the Ned-Gaston-killed-Luke thing. I understand it however, his motives definitely make sense. Or at least they did, which goes into my third point.
Lucas was actually Ned’s son? Lila was screwing around with Ned (RACHEL’S DAD) AND Luke (y’know, Rachel’s half brother). I thought the story could have ended without all this business with Lila. I didn’t like Lila at ALL in this whole book (she was so obsessed with the reunion, despite the fact that Violet and Anessa had just died), and this made me hate her more. This made me a bit disappointed, as I was fine with the ending being after Lucas died. This ending did get a few points back in my book, and it’ll get more if a sequel is made, seeing that this ending set up perfectly for a sequel. If there is a sequel, I think the ending won’t seem as unnecessary, and will be better and make more sense to me.
Next, Cade and Rachel. They should have properly gotten back together. It was obvious that they stilled lived each other, seeing as they were pining after each other for 80% of the book.
I enjoyed the kills, all of them were grotesquely described and executed, and I loved that. I liked the chapter length. As a person who HATES long chapters (looking at you Harry Potter :/) this was nice, as none exceeded 17 pages.
Overall this was a wonderful read, and though I have my gripes, it’ll go down as a definite favorite. I appreciate that I took up this recommendation from my friend, as it was completely worth it.
