a solid mystery

Good mystery with interesting turns. I had a suspicion about who the “bad guy” was from the beginning … so it was a validating experience.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! The characters were well developed and I empathized with Shelby and her history of abandonment and the mystery surrounding that as well as the co-developing mystery of the missing boy. It's a fairly compulsive read to the end!

I really enjoyed this one. Many characters kept the plot moving but also kept me second guessing- I knew early on one of the “answers” but had no idea of the “why” behind it. The story builds nicely and I thought the ending was handled nicely.

How many "if only" moments do you have in your life? If only you went right instead of left, if only you stayed home instead of going out, if only you told the truth instead of kept a secrete... This whole book is filled with if only's and that's want keeps it interesting right up until the end.

This was a postal book club pick from Moder Mrs. Darcy and I really enjoyed it. It had a great emotional arc and I genuinely cared about all the characters, even the "bad ones." This is also my first Biran Freeman book and I'm looking forward to reading more.

January LaVoy does an amazing performance on audio.
