The subject matter was just too gruesome. While I normally like fantasy books with these types of storyline. However, this is set in "contemporary " to the publishing, time. It is just too possible. The writing must be good for me to have such a visceral reaction to the book.
Moderate: Addiction, Drug abuse, Domestic abuse, and Mental illness

If you're looking for a book chronicling the end of the world via nuclear fallout, this may be up your alley. Fairly gruesome but also quite heartwarming at times. A lot of people compare it to King's The Stand, but any way you look at it, it's the classic good vs. evil story.
