Loved this story!

Enjoyed the chemistry between Alex & Eric, the mini mystery plot, and hello SEXY times.

Like most of Bowen stories I revel in the nuggets she drops for future books in the series. Can’t wait for the next one.

Moonlighter was a sweet second-chance love story between childhood friends separated by time. Bowen’s new series pairs suspense and technological elements with her brand of romance, and together they created a fun, engaging story.

With a fake relationship to start things between them, Alex and Eric’s back-and-forth banter and obvious sexual connection were ever present and really pulled the story together. I enjoyed the dynamic they shared; how that set the pace for what was between them and how each outside force affected them. It probably would’ve benefited from a bit more of that tension build-up between them, but overall it was an easy book to fall into.

I can not comes up with what is so memorable about this book. Yes Eric is hot and perfect boyfriend. But his background is off. I mean he is a famous NHL player and suddenly just agreed to be bodyguard? Making 7 mil a year. Jeez! If I were Eric, I will not taking any other job aside of lounging on the beach with a perfect book.

The story is also too long. Too many plots being twist here and there that I just lost. The suspense aspect is too messy. The romantic aspect is also boring. The sex scenes are cold. And it being repeated over and over again.

There are several moments of fun and cute. But not so much to make this book memorable. Overall I do enjoy this book OK.

Moonlighter is Sarina Bowen's newest sexy, funny and exciting romance. It can be read as a standalone, but if you've read Brooklynaire (and the Brooklyn Bruisers series) you will know Alex and Eric. Eric plays hockey for Brooklyn. He's sexy, funny, cocky and sweet. His brother needs his help with a security job but he isn't looking for a job. But when he finds out it's for Alex, a girl he spent a summer with when they were kids, he can't say no. That's how he finds himself in Hawaii pretending to be her boyfriend. Sharing her bed and trying to keep his hands off her luscious curves. Alex is a one woman show. She runs a company and it determined to make her mark. But when someone starts threatening her, she can't not ask for help. Now she's trapped with Eric and he isn't making it easy to stay away. Walking around without a shirt. Being nice and kind. How dare he! When the pretending becomes real, one kiss turns into so much more! It looks like Alex might need protection for longer than a week and Eric is just the man for the job. His feelings start to be more than friendly and he doesn't know what to do with that. So, tequila, declarations, tacos, pie, and feeding his woman are on his list of things to do. I loved this story! So much! Man, I missed these hockey players and I been dying to know what was going to happen to Alex! She's is so fantastic! Independent, smart, sexy and knows what she wants. Eric is so dreamy! Yes, he's strong, sexy and talented, but the soft gooey side is to die for. I was swooning all over the place. Overall, this had all my favorites things! Hockey, sexiness, suspense, sexy security men, humor, lust and tacos.
I'm extremely excited for this new series and I can't wait to see who's next?

"This shirt is lucky."
"You mean you win games after you wear it?"
"No, I mean it's luck to be wrapped so tightly around me. I wouldn't want to deprive this shirt that privilege."

"I get very jealous, you see. I’m needy."
"Oh, please. You're ridiculous."
"Uh huh. But part of me is needy. The part in my pants."

Maybe it makes me a sap, but none of the bad shit matters quite so much when you're curled up around a woman who makes you smile.

"Here's a zip tie!" my father says, pulling one out of his pocket. Some families carry tissues and gum. We carry restraints.

I was so excited to hear that Sarina is writing this new series! Even more When I saw the ARC on my kindle!

We met Eric Bayer in the Bruisers series before (if you’ve read them. If not - hurry, you’re missing out!!) He’s such a nice and great guy. I always liked him a lot.
Through some circumstances he meets up with Alex Engels, childhood friend of his - at his brothers company - and tough as nails CEO of her own company. She needs a companion for a business trip to Hawaii, and what happens when you have a room with just one bed? You get close to each other. Real close!

I loved the banter between Alex and Eric. And how she softens up with him, and him with her. All these little things he does for her, they totally show you how much he’s in love with her. They have great chemistry, and it’s hot and sexy between the sheets!

All in all this is an absolutely fantastic book as a starter for the new series. I’m already excited to read the next book. This book is not only a Sports romance, it also has a lot of suspense in it, and keeps you on the edge!

I kindly received an arc by the author and voluntarily left a review

Eric and Alex
I started this book a while ago but I just couldn’t get into it. So I knew I needed to try again at a different time. I am glad I did because this time I really enjoyed it.

I liked that they both have their own careers and that they were friends at one time. I found it funny she didn’t remember him and felt so bad about it.

I am interested to find out about Eric’s brother he seems like a really cool guy. His knowledge and business has me very interested. He must be really good since Alex hired him to keep her safe which in turn put Eric back into her life.

I wasn’t sure about the baby angle and that still is left up in the air by the ending. And her tech stuff we also don’t really know what is going to go on with that. I feel like we are left with some questions. But I do love that Eric kind of learns who he is and what his career might look like.
I enjoyed the narration.

I honestly don’t know what to say about this book because “amazing” or “really freaking awesome” don’t make it justice. It’s intense, romantic, steamy, hilarious, and so heartwarming that it literally leaves you breathless. It makes you feel so many different things at once. It’s hockey with a twist of suspense. And the swoon factor is off the charts.

Sarina Bowen has the uncanny ability to outdo herself every single time she writes a new book. In theory, it doesn’t really surprise me because she’s got some very wicked writing skills. But the truth is that it does surprise me. She just leaves me in awe of her talent. Every. Single. Time. I love how gorgeous her writing is. How she develops not only the story, but her characters. I love how real they feel, their hidden depths and flaws, and how they evolve as the story progresses. Her narrative is easy to read and it flows naturally. She makes it look so simple, and that’s her genius on display, because it can’t possibly be easy to do. I especially appreciate how witty she is, how skillfully she weaves humor into her writing without making them comedies. She’s known for making people cry and laugh at the same time, and I really love that about her.

Moonlighter is book one of The Company, a new series that is actually a spin-off of her Brooklyn Bruisers series. It is a complete standalone, so you really don’t need to read any other book to enjoy this one to the fullest. Having said that, if you haven’t read the Brooklyn Bruisers series, trust me on this, you have to. It’s phenomenal. We first met Alex Engels in Brooklynaire, and Eric Bayer has been a member of the Brooklyn Bruisers team since Rookie Move, but he’s been mostly in the background until Overnight Sensation.

Moonlighter is a perfect combination of old and new. We get to hang out with old favorites like Nate, Becca and Bingley, and at the same time we are introduced to a whole new cast of characters that will hopefully get their own stories. I’m crossing all my fingers here. We get introduced Max, Gunnar, Pieter, and Scout. Max Bayer is Eric’s older brother and the director of The Company, a security agency with no known name. The name is need-to-know only, so we’ll hopefully find out more about it soon. I found him to be the most interesting of the new guys. I honestly can’t wait to read more about him and his secret past. It’s so intriguing!

Alex and Eric were childhood friends who lost contact for over twenty-one years, and who due to an awkward reunion, find themselves at odds for a while. But her circumstances and his chivalry put them in close quarters together, sharing a bed in Hawaii and pretending to be a couple. The attraction is mutual and resisting each other turns their interactions into a sort of battle of wills. The fact is that they find themselves at a crossroads in their lives, facing changes they’re not ready for, and that makes their relationship more of a challenge. But when danger seems to keep following Alex, Eric takes the role of her protector again, willingly this time, and makes it his mission to keep her safe and convince her that they belong together.

I loved their interactions since the beginning. The witty banter, the teasing, the heat and sincere affection between them, their chemistry. Everything. I must confess that Eric Bayer caught me off guard. He is without a doubt one of the swooniest, most adorable book boyfriends I have ever come across. OMG! The guy is so smooth and sweet! I wasn’t expecting that level of awesomeness from him. For a growly and grumpy set-on-his-way athlete, he sure knows how to be charming. He’s definitely a keeper.

Moonlighter is basically the same greatness Sarina Bowen usually delivers, but with a different feel. It’s unique and outstanding, a real pleasure to read. I loved it from start to finish, but even though I didn’t want it to ever end, the ending was my favorite part of the story. It brought tears to my eyes. The happiest of tears. It is heart-meltingly beautiful. Five stars fall short with this one.

Sometimes books read you more than you read them, and this book made clear to me that I'm boringly conventional in my expectations of love stories. I picked this up because it seemed to tick lots of boxes for me: fake relationship, enemies-to-lovers-ish, suspense-ish, only one bed etc. My excitement was kind of derailed when I discovered that the heroine is pregnant with another man's baby at the start of the story. It's a brave narrative choice but it just jarred for me, as babies feel like more a part of happy ever after in fiction, for me at least. It also kind of sucked that the birth father was so awful. I am also not a hockey fan, so I have to accept that this was not the book for me.

I loved her hockey series but this book fell short. Neither character was very likable and their relationship was not very believable.
