2 stars. This was just okay. I mean, I guess I get why people praise this book but it didn't really work for me as a whole. It's a quick read but the first 50 or so pages was info-dump madness and the ending dragged on. I liked the 80s references but most of the time they served no purpose other than to be a "Hey, remember that thing? Wasn't that awesome?" and then back to the plot. It was a mess.

I wasn't attached to any of the characters and I don't remember anyone's names to be completely honest. I liked the writing and the plot had so much potential but it just didn't live up to the hype for me unfortunately. Though I am now really wanting to listen to a bunch of 80s hair metal bands so I guess that's a plus?

Great book. A friend recommended and sent it to me to borrow when they saw I was reading books online at work. He told me to just read the first chapter and I got sucked in. There was a little lag towards the middle of the book, but it picks back up pretty quickly. I highly recommend this to anyone who remembers or loves the 80s. I am hoping the movie soundtrack is all the songs listed in the book and more.
