challenging dark informative mysterious tense fast-paced

My rating for this book is a 2.5, I don’t usually do half ratings but I don’t feel that this book was quite three stars. I was interested in this book because of its format choices, I like mixed media elements in books but unfortunately I don’t think this format works for me. The news papers, text, and other forms of media were good but I think the interviews had too much info dumping for me, it came off a dense and confusing most of the time. I found the story hard to follow and even at the end I still find myself asking what really happened, what were the backgrounds for the characters, the motives, and much more.

The start of the story is rather boring and doesn’t pick up until at least fifty to one hundred pages, the characters aren’t that interesting to read about and while some plot twist were surprising I still found the story to be very confusing but somewhat enjoyable.

Didn’t love it as an audiobook due to the voices sounding similar. Made it hard to keep track of names as well. Couldn’t remember who characters were that were brought back into the story later on

mysterious

Honestly, pretty darn good for a mystery novel. The unique format takes times to get into, and honestly some of the characters blended together and could be mixed up at times (i.e hard to give them a well rounded personality). However, the "whodunit" was well done with a few small twists in there. A few things were predictable but it was a fun ride!
