4.5 but rounding up because after reading other people’s thoughts i think they’re too critical and this book was so fun and a quick read even though it was almost 500 pages - it certainly didn’t feel that way
if you’re a true crime podcast/documentary girlie like me, you’ll love this format - it’s basically reading a documentary in the best way possible - plus the mixed media of scripts, maps, newspapers, texts, and social media posts added another fun layer that you don’t get often in books
it lost half a star because i felt like making ALL of the experts connected or “possibly” connected to the case was a little much and some (JJ) we never got an actual answer on if they were actually connected- but it made for a fun twist and seeing experts turn on each other was interesting - also because nick is an annoying asshole - eff that guy
if amelie was actually the killer like it acted like toward the end, this would have been a 3 star read - fun but predictable, but the ending turnaround and the mental health profiling at the end really flipped it back around
ALSO NOT ENOUGH PEOPLE ARE TALKING ABOUT HOW REBECCA KILLED GUY AT THE END LIKE????? that part had me JAW DROPPED. what happened to her being sweet girl who loved kids??? plus like your brother abandoned you too???? i get the outrage but MURDER?? that part had me gagged - he didn’t deserve to go out like that imo :(

The storyline was very good and fun to read, the format made it even more fun to read. There were a lot of plot twists that had me shocked while reading!

Did I read this 400 page thriller in one day yeah! Did I enjoy this book no! What even was this? I’m serious I can’t figure it out. How common is it to fake your death cause I’m curious. The plot twists were just huh? I don’t know I don’t recommend this book unless you want a fast “thriller” (I would say this is a who done it mystery cause nothing was thrilling about this book) to finish fast and mark on your challenge. Other than that skip this!
