I really wanted to like this more than I did. The stories were interesting, but the format of jumping around was too jarring and I found it a little tough to keep track of what happened and when.
It was an interesting idea to link it all to her songs, I just think it needed to be edited into more structure for me.

I love Dolly so much! You HAVE to listen to the audio version because there's nothing like hearing it in Dolly's voice. They also play her music before each chapter to accompany the topics. Any fan of her music over the years will appreciate the backstories. Loved it!

This was such a fun book to listen to! The structure is really unique with clips of Dolly’s songs and her narration describing how different songs came to be, her experiences collaborating with others, and her unique career journey, which of course includes much more than just music.

I find myself in a bit of a complicated spot when it comes to Dolly Parton. While I deeply admire her, I wouldn't necessarily call myself a dedicated fan who constantly listens to her music. Of course, there are those iconic songs like "9 to 5" and "Jolene" (which is one of my all-time favorite country songs) that frequently get stuck in my head
So having the pleasure of listening to this truly captivating audiobook that interwove snippets of Dolly's music with her insightful explanations of her songwriting process. I was absolutely obsessed! Listening to her speak with such passion and humility solidified my view of her as an incredible role model. She embodies the kind of person I aspire to be: someone deeply committed to their craft, living life with respect, and generously giving back to others.
This audiobook was a fantastic experience, not only because it featured those wonderful musical excerpts, but also because it allowed me to learn so much more about Dolly Parton as a person and her life story.
This was a lovely listen! It almost felt like I was sitting by the fire just listening to her tell her stories.

Den är inte nerskriven, mer ett intervjuformat, hon pratar avslappnat och spontant om sin uppväxt och karriär, och en manlig röst berättar/leder in för nästkommande svar från henne. Blev stundtals lite svamlande. Man får även höra typ 5-10 sekunder av hennes sånger mellan varven.
