Dolly Parton, as told by the great lady herself. Includes song clips, and details her life I had never heard before, including tributes to her Mama and Daddy. A joy to listen to.

I loved listening to this book! Dolly is amazing! The only reason I have this book 4 stars is because I feel like to get the full experience it needs to be read in physical form AND listened to for the music.

Listen to the audio book if you can. Dolly Parton may be the best human being on earth. We don't deserve her. It was a delight to listen to her talk about her songs and her life.

Just finished listening to the audio book version during my commuting this semester. So great to hear clips of the songs she was speaking about. I didn’t know much of Dolly’s story other than her top hits, so I learned a lot. Just a totally entertaining and delightful read.

This book is written from the perspective of an interview (question/answer format). The added beauty having Dolly Parton narrate the audiobook and listening to snippets of her songs. It short (5-hours) and it was wonderful spending the afternoon with Dolly having her tell me her story about growing up, playing music with her family, her favorite (baby) Martin guitar, and her ability to rhyme at a young age. Definitely recommend - especially the audio book!

Delightful to hear Dolly give an oral history of her library of songs - if you are hearing-abled, please do audio!!

This was SO good as an audiobook because it's like a 5 hour interview with Dolly and snippets of her songs. It feels more like a podcast so I'm curious about what the print version looks like.

I'm not a huge country fan but I DO love Dolly. I enjoyed hearing her talk about her experiences and her creative process writing songs. She's a national treasure.

I loved the casual conversation with Dolly that the audio version of this book entailed- more like an interview than a book. I particularly enjoyed the snippets of recorded songs that introduced the section about it. Toward the middle there were fewer sections with music and I nearly quit listening, but wanted to hear more so I interspersed this audio between other books until I finally finished it. I found repetitive phrases "my favorite, I love, is the best...." became nearly meaningless and I wished someone had edited out some of the repetition to focus on what made each song truly unique. This is not really a biography- I don't feel like l really know how Dolly's life has unfolded but I did enjoy a romp thru some of her lyrics.
