i really like how this was both a memoir and a commentary on how pop culture and politics mix. i am very much a gen z-er (although an early one), so i appreciated a lot of the references the author put in the book. i am not american, however, so i don't think i appreciated this book as much as i should've on a personal level, but it did get me thinking about the intersection of pop culture and lgbtq+ acceptance where i'm from. overall a great read! :-)
