I love Katie Skelly, this one is probably my favorite. I appreciate how her books' storylines don't necessarily have a rigid flow and tend to end with a less is more approach. And her style is simple and gorgeous.

I love these illustrations and as one member of my book club pointed out, they would be perfect to just hang on the wall (assuming 60s, retro, crazed vampires are your thing). The story however, was lacking. It was an interesting little tale, but told too little of it. This felt more like an art book than storytelling. That’s ok, but I wish the story went deeper into the world the author was creating.

I don't remember why I bought this or when exactly I read it only that I think it was somewhere between September and November this year.

Story is meh, kinda confusing (in the end, really, was she turned into a vampire by her brother/boyfriend and kind of imprisoned by him? uh, that's not cool...) Art is clean, got a nice mod feel. I get the impression that this author is a great artist without an outlet for her art. She could just as easily do, like, pinups. Or maybe illustrate someone else's work.

I'll try to read maybe something else by the same author, though, since there seems to be a lot out there and some other stuff might be better.

Love Skelly's style and this brief look at a pretty vampire living it up for a night. (No pun intended.)

I loved this book. It was simplistic, it was cute. The writing was sparse but you understood the story. I liked the illustrations. The characters were cute and charming in a plain sort of way.
