WOW.
Maybe it’s just that I’m new to this genre and style, but this was amazing to me. The atmosphere was perfectly created, every time I picked up this book I felt like I was in High Place walking through the halls with Noemì.
And even though it was incredibly unnerving I somehow didn’t want to leave…

I FLEW through this book in about a day and I honestly still can’t believe that. The people next in line for this Livby hold will probably appreciate that. Clearly I couldn’t put this down. Now I’m going to go and probably have nightmares but it was worth it!

A majority of the story is spent detailing and building characters as well as the environment. It takes more than half the book for anything crazy to happen.
A great mystery, I found myself continue to read-- not necessarily for the story, but I needed to know how it ends.
The ending is satisfying, all your questions get answered.

Dark and disturbing fantasy that grossed me out. Interesting setting, plot and characters but a little slow at times.

This is my second book in the genre and I don’t think it’s for me. So take the rest of this review with that in mind.

I found the main character a bit hard to stomach at times - she was a bit of a cartoon version of a character.

I found the characters and plot more compelling and the writing more delicious in ‘The Hacienda’ by Isabel Canas.
