I’d give this a solid 4 stars. I was really REALLY excited to read this book bc of all the hype I was seeing, but I think I worked it up so much in my head that it fell short of my expectations. I loved Noemí as soon as she was introduced; she’s very likeable, headstrong, and tenacious. However, I was expecting the book to be creepier than it was. Noemí really carried the book for me and if it weren’t for her I wouldn’t have been able to finish it.

3.5 stars! Unfortunate but I guess I appreciated the realities of colonialism with regards to colourism and the English language. I didn’t understand her running around for more than half of the book and thought just figure whatever it is out cause I’m confused. Anyways, great gothic/horror descriptors that were easy to imagine!

This is one of those books that I hesitate to say I "enjoyed" reading it because I was stressed the whole time lol!!! The vibes are spooky and unsettling. This shit would happen to you in jk rowlings mold house
