This is a very depressing, yet inspiring compeliation book about rape, and sexual assault, and all things that have been done to women. It is each woman’s story.

The best way to sum up this very powerful book, is to comment on the comment one of the chracters makes after the daughter bites someone because they wouldn’t stop harassing them. “Sometimes, a person just got to be bit.”

There are some really horrid men out there, and the cartoonists lay it all bare, so to speak.

Highly recommended, but be prepared to be outraged.

Content/Trigger warning: discussion and visual depictions of sexual assault and harassment. Reading this book as a survivor was extremely validating, but it was also difficult. I saw myself and many of my friends in these pages. A book for the #MeToo movement to remind us that every single one of our stories has value and it was never - never - never any of our faults. Empowering.

Drawing Power is a comics collection that is disturbing, necessary, and disturbing in its necessity. With dozens of comics included from a huge variety of voices, we bear witness to rape culture, harassment, sexual violence, and so much more. It's a painfully difficult read, and it took me a while to get through because I often read a couple of the comics and then felt the need to set it aside.

I would definitely recommend it, but I would caution readers to be aware of the content going in, know that it's potentially going to be very triggering for some, and take care of oneself while reading it.

Some of the shortest pieces in this collection hit me the hardest, but they are all powerful statements, adding voices to a collective nobody wants to be a part of.
