Classic Nora Roberts. It was pretty adorable. Short and quick (perfect for my reading slump). A little dated, but not horribly so.
Diverse cast of characters: No

Like watching old movies with the weird kissing, sappy romance

I like that it's a chaste romance. Ms Roberts hasn't written a lot of those. A pretty decent one, too. Nothing earth-shattering, but nice nonetheless.

Originally published as a Harlequin series book, this is definitely a romance from the 90s, but it holds up pretty well.
Trenton St. James is excited to get the letter inviting him to the Towers, that the Calhoun family is ready to talk to him about selling their mansion so that Trent can build a hotel. On the way up to Maine, Trent's car starts making an odd noise and he stops at CCs to get it checked out. Little does he realize that CC is Catherine Colleen Calhoun and she is not pleased that he is there. Unfortunately for her, he was invited by her aunt so he's going to be sticking around. And the more the two of them spar, the more she falls in love.
The romance is a little too fast and shallow for me but I liked the book when I first read it and I think I've held on to that. Overall, a nice start to the series and introduction to the Calhoun sisters.

C.C. Calhoun and her sisters, along with her aunt, are stripped to the bone with their finances. The Towers is their family home, generations growing within the walls, near the sea. The views spectacular and history close to her heart, Catherine struggles with the reality of selling her home. Trenton, a hotel owner, visits The Towers to observe the property and decide if a purchase is in his business' best interest. Thoughtful, he realizes Aunt Coco, has more in mind for his visit. The prospect of marriage with one of the Calhoun women. A ridiculous thought, he struggles to keep his feeling in check for Catherine. Attraction reels, but his disbelief in marriage and loyalty hold him back. His parents, gone through several divorces and marriages, shown him the inability for commitment. Catherine falls in love with him, but averts her attention, knowing that she deserved love and marriage. The slow realization that he was indeed in love with her, he changes his plans and allows his heart to fall deeply in love. The first in the series of Calhoun sister's, Robert's words reveal the heart of a complex love story. As always, Robert's shows the ability to take you on the journey of a lover, despair, and glee, the adventure becomes joy.

Not my thing at all but if you like a modern romance with no bad language or graphic sexual content you can try this. Its well written snd its quite nice. Comfort reading for romance fans i would say.
