So I got this book two years ago tried to read it and failed, I attempted to read it again reached 197 pages and I hated it yep not touching this book again! Infact I'll be unhauling it instead because hey this book was nothing more then a chore to read, the characters where just dull the story sounded great but it was like nothing happened at all.

Oh and I made the choice of not wasting my time on this book pretty early on because there are better books out there and I have no plans on reading the sequel as I do not care for anyone in this book and well there are better dystopian books also the funny thing is the story could've worked but well it didn't nope just dragged on and on and on why waste 20 something chapters with absolutely no story at all? Yep don't waste your money on this book.

A summery for The Roar:

Mika lives in future London, behind The Wall: Solid concrete topped with high-voltage razor wire and guarded by a battalion of Ghengis Borgs, it was built to keep out the animals, because animals carry the plague.
Or so Mika's been told.
But ever since Ellie vanished a year ago, Mika's suspected his world may be built on secrets--and lies. When a mysterious organization starts recruiting mutant kids to compete in violent virtual reality games, Mika takes the chance to search for his twin sister--and the truth.

I enjoyed reading it very much, even though I think there are some pretty major plot holes. I certainly hope it has a sequel, because it ended in a supremely unresolved state. In fact, if she can pull off resolving it believably, I will be profoundly impressed and intrigued, but I have a feeling that she will do it.
It reminded me a great deal of Ender's game, but lacks the finesse. On the plus side, the book has strong male and female characters.

The ending should have been more clear, for a book as long as The Roar I expected way more than what it was. It was good but it could’ve been a thousand times better.

I really liked this book it was very interesting it reminds me of Eoin Colfer books when it comes to the writing and the pacing it was very interesting from start to finish. I really liked the characters especially Mika he is a very interesting and well-written character I liked all of the interesting details that were revealed as the story progressed. I really liked the story the plot moved at a steady pace and in this book I liked the book's world it was interesting and awful all at the same time. So overall I liked this book an will be reading the next one soon.

2 1\2 stars. Interesting idea. I got bored pretty frequently though. I wanted more than what I got about the characters. Some of the events were a little too unbelieveable. Also, why haven't we, as a race in these futuristic books, realized that virtual games are always dangerous in some way and that things that are too good to be true ARE. Always. Come on. I will be reading the sequel, "The Whisper."

this was boring in the beginning and the middle, but the end was good. the way the author wrote the story makes me think of a reporter reporting live, just saying what is happening and not elaborating. I did like how she switched perspectives often, it kept things moving, albeit slowly.

I can see why this series is super popular with kids, but it lacked a little something for me. I never really felt for the characters and was never able to buy into their world completely.

The audio was good through out and the book started out really great! BUT I got really impatient because there was no clues to what was really happening and why. It was frustrating and annoying. Plus where did the ghost "dog" come from? Never did find that out either. To many weird variables at the end as well.
