I’m torn on how to rate this one. There were a lot of pieces of it that I felt were really heartbreaking and poignant. I loved what Lily’s mom had to say when she told her the truth. And i was glad that CoHo went supportive with Allysa. But it felt like it wrapped up quickly and too… nicely? I think i’d give it 3.5 stars? Idk man i’m in my feels.
This book was amazing. I do think it was a little overhyped, I personally didn’t cry to the ending. I think it depends on the person. To me it felt more of like a woman empowerment sort of thing so it was more of a “you go girl” “I’m rooting for you” “Queen shit” kind of thing and not something I would cry to. A little overhyped but for sure worth the read!

Even though I came into reading this with a determination not to enjoy it, I can't help admitting that this book did stir me. It helped me gain further understanding of the reality of abusive families, and made me really emotional at points. At the same time romance on its own is not my genre and there were some *interesting* scenes... Also the poor writing quality sort of annoyed me throughout, but I really think the author makes us sympathise with lily in quite a clever way.
This book was so good. It held my attention the entire time. I felt like I couldn’t breath until I made it to the end. This book is so raw and real and needs to be read by many. (also, read the Authors Note at the end if you want even more insight to the story). I can’t wait for the next book!
You know, I get it why people like this book. Its a good premise to some extent, but it was made SO BAD.
Colleen Hoover writing is weak, bad at some point. The develop of the story is so close to a romcom (before the abuse) that its annoying. This book DIDN'T need to be a romance book.
I dont understand why people would read and praise this book when theres so many other ones that are better.
