I picked this book up from the library as a "blind-date-with-a-book," it was wrapped with just a brief description - so this was a total surprise and so so good

Such a nuanced depiction of grief and love - simultaneously so tender and funny and sad

Wow! Such a heartwarming tale and I love all the little details. Especially what type of food in the fridge. Everything was touching and beautiful.

I really wanted this to work for me and it just didn't. The scribbled style and choice to portray everyone as birds really limited the emotions that could be shown, which isn't ideal for subject matter this deep, and the author frequently peppers in short, contextless, often silent moments from their childhoood that just don't work if you have no idea what you're looking at. I've read much better, unfortunately.

Didn't read what this was about before I read it and it was devastating in the best way.
