I love Anne but this book was overflowing with seasonal sweetness, too much. I do appreciate the throwback to simpler times, but the morales after each short story were too much to take.

Only one short story with Anne. The other stories are heart-warming and enjoyable but I was hoping for more Christmas stories about Anne’s adult life with Gilbert and their children.

The stories were sweet, but it kind of felt like reading the same story over and over again with different characters. Overall a nice and cozy read for Christmas though.

This book was lovely.
16 short stories by LM Montgomery. Only 2 of them actually featured Anne, but the writing style and storytelling were consistent with the books I read as a kid.
Overall enjoyable, with messages of caring for/thinking of others, being optimistic/hopeful/seeing the good, and giving of what you have. Some cringy moments of very traditional gender roles of the early 1900s, and somewhat repetitious storylines between a few of the stories, but as they were collected from various publications in different newspapers it makes sense that LM would have made small changes to resell a story. Overall I greatly enjoyed reading this and the format of short stories was perfect for me right now with many other holiday hosting commitments making time to read and full attention somewhat sparse.

This is a lovely collection of Avonlea Christmas short stories and it was delightful on audio :)
