Book Riot Read Harder Challenge: Read a Fantasy Novel
This started out interesting and then went to VERY interesting :) The character development and the depth of the plot is really amazing. From the middle of the book i wasn't really able to put it down (well, i had to but i didn't want to). I cannot wait for the copy of the second book to arrive :)
This is one of my most favourite books. I must reread it.

I enjoyed this book but didnt love this book.
'The Way of Shadows' is Brent Weeks' first book in his Night Angel series. In it we have a street orphan Azoth living in a guild under the rule of of Rat, an unforgiving and cruel slum lord. After famed assassin Drizzo Blint tells Azoth he is willing to take him on as an apprentice after he kills Rat Azoth finds himself struggling to take the killing strike. As Blint's apprentice he will need to leave behind all he knows and everyone he cares for and become a new person for to really work for Blint not only must Rat die but so does Azoth.

I liked this well enough, but it didnt captivate me. I listened to it on audiobook and I think that if I had had a physical copy I would have found this much harder to get through. I didnt connect with any characters, I found myself almost at times but it was always with side characters, like Eleine and Logan, Jarl. I found their stories much more engaging and I want to know more about their lives. Near the end Blint's backstory was interesting but it felt rushed and like I should have read a series about him before this, like it's a spin off of Blint's tale. I very much felt like this was a small snippet in a well developed world and that theres more out there.
If I find this in audiobook I will probably listen to the second book, but this also feels like something I can completely forget.
