Gorgeous. So many beautiful moments and lines and stories all woven together. Putting down this book feels like saying goodbye to friends, or going back inside after a summer's day outdoors. I have a feeling this is one I'll revisit, maybe next summer.

I love this book. I love the language and the feelings evoked by that language. I love how the relationships evolve and change. It's great.

Prodigal Summer took me a bit to get into but it turned out to be three fantastic love stories for nature, family and romance. I loved all three stories and the way Kingsolver interlocked their meaning and connections. She also extensively covers traditional farming and mod en farming and both beneficial and detrimental interference from science and humans. Beautifully written with respect to nature and loving the land as well as respecting the need to make a living and support each other even when we have differences. This is a beautiful, hope-inspiring novel about coming together.
