This book was so slow. I spent most of the book very confused because the author Truman Capote was all over the place. There were no breaks between what he was talking about. I also didn’t like how there were no chapters, instead it was a 4 part books, which confused me even more, nothing was separated. The writing style also confused me.

This book is an extensively detailed account and analysis of the Clutter family murders. Capote even befriended one of the murderers during his time researching the case. I had to read this book in high school and it was one of the few books I actually enjoyed.

I went into this book curious about the origins of modern true crime, and came out of it with a lot of complicated and unexpected emotions. This book bounces around between a half-dozen stories throughout time, which is one of my favorite narrative devices and is executed really well.
