Heartbreaking and beautiful. So many verses in this hit really hard. It's a book full of emotion and heart. An important and real story.

It was good until a trope I hate happened not once but TWICE towards the end. The ending also felt super rushed, but I appreciated a majority of the poems & the overall story, setting, and character growth. I think that the author made a good choice when writing this in verse as opposed to normal prose.

I really liked this! I don't read poetry books often so I'm happy to have seen this. I don't wanna compare this to the other 2 poetry books bc I did like this but I loved the other 2 more (Poet X and The Black Flamingo). This one surprisingly took longer to read than expected considering how short the poems were. Maybe bc it was a lot? But it did inspire me a lil and I did end up writing a few things bc of this book so that's nice. I wanna give it a 5 but the other 2 were a 5 so I'll give it a 4 but really it's 4.5

Quick read! I’m also first-generation Puerto Rican born in the states. I could relate hard to some of the things Sarai says. The ending isn’t the happiest but it’s real life and it would be unrealistic if it had ended differently.
