Great book of contemporary poetry. Bluets is one of my favorite books and this felt as if the same person was writing it (whereas The Argonauts felt a bit different to me).

Nelson's writing is raw and to the point, I constantly had to close the book after reading a line or poem that gutted me to let it roll around in my head for a while.

Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a contemporary book of poetry about love, loss and healing.

This collection taught me that I prefer Maggie’s more prose-like writing, as in The Argonauts or Bluets. The title poem was fantastic, and the whole section titled The Hospital for Special Care was incredible as well. I never really connected with The Canal Diaries.

Part 1: no thoughts, just vibes (+ 1 canal)
Part 2: T'is a plot
Part 3: the vibes are strong with this one

I didn't like the kind of poetry though, I was missing a rhythm or maybe I just didn't get it, who knows...
