each narration of food preparation is truly magical; it's akin to the stage being prepared just before the curtain rises. funny and uncomfortable with rich, decadent descriptions of food, and hungry women who have little to no sense of direction in their life doing kinda fucked up and questionable things.

also, i just have to put this quote somewhere because it's my absolute favorite:
Technically yes, I was interested in stuff and ideas, and philosophy seemed a repository for people who were interested in stuff and ideas. But I didn't know any stuff and I didn't have any ideas [...]

really enjoyed it!

Supper Club is both frustrating and fascinating.  I loved the character driven story line and I loved that in the end, the character chooses to follow an untraditional path.

This book is now one of my favourites. I'm sad that I got it from the library and now have to return it and buy my own copy. It reminds me of Bunny by Mona Awad in the way it's written. The content is not very similar other than that it's all about women and relationships between women and taking control of our lives.
Made me hungry with all of the food talk! I was reading it in the middle of the night and one character was eating pancakes, so I got up and made pancakes at 3am. It was lovely.
I hope I can get my hands on everything else Lara Williams has written and read them soon.
