The writing was nice, but I couldn't get into the letters-only format.

I was intrigued by the title and lukewarm about a novel written in letters. VERY happy I read this novel. The growth of the friendship through letters was warm and endearing. It made me remember the anticipation and excitement of waiting for the postman As well as the treasure that friends are.

Sweet epistolary novel about two women in the 1960’s. Nothing too intense, just pleasantly life-affirming.

Reading the letters where friendship developed between pen-pals was absolutely delightful. It had substance through the processing of events that unfolded in the 1960's. The discussions of food, family, and life felt realistic and anything but mundane. I ordered this one for myself after reading a library copy. I'm excited to try some of the recipes I learned along the way.

Woooooow. This is one of my favorite books of all time I think. It was the encapsulation of cozy and feel good. I have a feeling I’ll be picking this one up next winter when the winter blues start to hit again. It was the exact book I needed at this time in my life. A quick read so I would recommend this to anyone. If you hate it, at least it won’t last long. If you love it, you’ll read it next winter like I plan on doing.
