I know it’s a short story but it was a little too short for me. It actually had a very good base and could have been longer. I liked the twist at the end. It was missing some details however.

Yikes, maybe I should have stayed curious. It was short, and I was tempted to give it a try, but honestly I do not know what I just read. For such a brief story, there was very little substance, and I cannot imagine why anyone thought this was sufficient in terms of content to publish. Hardly anything happened, and while the ending did surprise me, it was more in a what on earth way than a satisfying twist.
The reasoning behind the events was absurd. Really, killing over brownies? And as for the idea of someone trading away her own hair, which she supposedly treasured, just to buy her husband a watch chain, I found that incredibly unconvincing. I simply cannot imagine anyone going to such an extreme.
Super quick read! Thought it was like the story I had heard when I was younger but it proved to have a plot twist at the end I wasn’t expecting! Not bad
Narrator was great, the book not so much. Disappointed to say the least. McFadden has the ability to write much better than this. This one fell short.
Definitely recommended for mystery and thriller genre lovers. Mystery unwrapped beautifully in few pages.
