This book had a great message and was very representative of different people/bodies in the world. I read this with my tween son and he was a tad bit uncomfortable reading it but I wanted to impress upon him the importance of body positivity and diversity.

This book talks about all different types of bodies, and it explains that all bodies are cool the way they are. I love how this book has different types of people on every page. It is not a diverse book that just African Americans or Asian Americans would see themselves in, but rather it is a book that every kid in my class would see themselves in on every page. I could see myself using this for a read aloud when studying different body parts.

I sat with this book and just loved on each image of a body on each of its 30 pages. Bodies at play, at rest, at work, and school, and home. Bodies that show how beautiful our differences are and how to appreciate the bodies we’re in. This is a great conversation starter for families to help their children appreciate and honor their bodies as they grow. And for adults to discuss how to encourage body positivity in their children and themselves at any age.

Loved this book!! So many cool conversations with Holden and my niece about why bodies look different and how that’s ok!

The illustrations are stunning. And exciting- even though I’ve met people with all these different bodies, I’ve rarely, if ever, seen them drawn like this. Living life, participating without the focus being on the limitations or consequences of having a body outside the cultural expectations of oppressive beauty standards.
The words to this book were descriptive without being prescriptive. The refrain “bodies are cool” could be taken as body positivity rather than body positivity but I think the visual inclusion is important for people of all ages to see. Its a huge step in normalizing the huge variety of body types that exist in the world.
