Very gothic and atmospheric but nothing really happens until the last quarter of the book. Enjoyable heroine.

I reread this for my book club and liked it better the second time around. I was prepared for the slow build up this time and wasn't as anxious for something more concrete to happen.

Creepy Halloweeney story that gets a new take at Gothic haunted mansions.
Noemi Taboada is a wonderful character, strong and fun to read.

I really liked this book! I read it for one of my college classes and while the plot gets crazy later on I found it very enjoyable but also horrifying.

This story is a slow burn at first, which lends itself to the gothic tradition. The mystery is well crafted. High Place provides an insular atmosphere, adding to the psychological horror. This novel had me muttering “what the fuck” every few pages. The concept is absolutely wild and well executed. Would recommend for lovers of horror, although not for the faint of heart.
