I absolutely loved reading "Mexican Gothic." I can't believe it took me so long to finally dive into it asc I've popped into this title and the great cover from time to time online.

From the title and reading what it was supposed to be about, I was expecting a cozy mystery, but it turned out to be a chilling and paranormal journey that had me hooked from the start. The narrator did a fantastic job, bringing each character to life with distinct voices and pronunciations. I started the book (actually, it was an audio book from the subscription for the audiobooks.com app) last night and couldn't put it down until just an hour ago. Being sick for the past four months allowed me the opportunity to binge-listen to this captivating story.

This was my first experience with this app, even though I encountered a minor technical glitch that required a restart. Despite that hiccup, the book kept me enthralled, leaving me eager for more stories like Mexican Gothic.

This one was from the VIP section, and I hope the seamless enjoyment continues without any hiccups a lot of people mention when reviewing the app itself. It's not so important in regards to the book itself but just to keep an eye on things like this if you're audio lovers too.

I don't usually read horror but this was amazing. Just when you think you know what's going on, you don't. The cover is beautiful and the vivid description of the house are great. Support more latinx writers and get yourself this amazing book!

Okay, so here’s the thing. If you’re just here for the gothic vibes, you’ll like this book. If you like the slow, psychological build up in horror, you’ll like it!

If you’re looking for 3 dimensional female characters, maybe try a different book. If you want a book full of Mexican culture (like you may assume for the title), you won’t find it here.

The vibes were immaculate. I am definitely an atmosphere person, so I enjoyed the first 75% ish when I had no idea what was going on. But I can definitely see how this could be boring for some or fall a little flat.

Best way to describe it- Nancy Drew meets House of Hollow.

This was good... it took me a bit to get into it,  but once I knew all the characters,  I was hooked.

This book certainly came with a creep factor while I read at night. About a quarter of the way in I got a definite Get Out vibe. Something’s not right about this European family living in Mexico and you can’t quite put your finger on it.. I’m not sure how I feel about the ending, but it was definitely a quick, fun read. It does get rather dark at times, so beware the trigger warning.
