Picked this up solely because of the beautiful art style and interesting synopsis. I felt the relationship between Mio and Shun was a bit forced. I wanted to love this BL manga but there are definitely better “love” stories out there. While it did feel like a more realistic approach to accepting your sexuality, I didn’t particularly feel like their relationship was organic. Maybe this is a developing story as the next volumes do cover more in depth their story and journey, but I think this one’s it for me.

Was personally disappointed tbh.

I don’t mind the miscommunication trope as much as the next guy but the way it was done in this story was obnoxious. I don’t know if it was a translation issue or something but it just did not translate well for me.

I can see why people like the story, but just personally I think it could’ve been a lot better.

Plus pushing and pushing for sex? Very uncool and made Mio unlikable in my eyes. Like I understand the excitement especially when exploring sexuality and every person has their own needs, but it still is not cool.

I really do wish it was better, I love the setting and the two characters are soft in ways which is nice, but it just kind of flopped for me.

Decided to revisit this because it's been a while and I'm not sure if I read the second one or not since I read a fan translation the first time. I'll definitely have to check out the movie soon cause I'm sure I'll like it. I feel pretty the same. It's a cute and quiet story. It really does have an island feel to it.

This felt very similar to the other story I read by the author, but it's really cute and it's got a soft, quiet, serious tone to it.

This is a 3.5 for me. I actually bought the volumes back when I watched the movie. They stayed on my shelves for quite some time. Reading volume 1, I'm a bit disappointed. It's not that different from the movie but I think that since it was my first fully Boy love movie back then I didn't want to look too close to all the things wrong with the movie (and some weren't explained well in the movie).

A notable change is that in the manga Mio did call and Eri made him feel like he shouldn't call back until he knew how he felt about Shun. The manga make me wonder more and more if Shun actually liked Mio because of who he is or because for once he could be with another man and if Mio loved Shun as much as he thought or if he came back because Shun was the only person he connected with after his mom's death.

I hope the other volumes will give me a better insight on their feelings.
