Holy smokes Sierra!!!! Consider my mind f*cked. That ending though!!! I can not wait until 2020. I NEED MORE NOW!

Read the first book if it sounds interesting but skip the sequel. Not worth it, all drama, almost no character development or new information. Just skip it. If you want to know more about the Big Misunderstanding between Saint and Auden, just read the spoilers and save yourself the agony of slopping through this.
Um yeah just gonna pretend that ending didn’t happen....

This took me a bit to finish only b/c I didn't want it to end. But end it did and with a whelp of a reveal only to leave us hanging. Not to say it was a 'cliffhanger' as I know that turns some people off and honestly I'm one of 'those people'. I love my series finished before jumping in, but I'm here to tell you J.U.M.P.
We get a mostly St. Sebastian pov story. I LOVE St. Sebastian. I love him and Auden. This made me very happy. VERY VERY happy.
There is little with Rebecca and Delphine but I suspect they will be in the one more. Not sure I am as excited as I want so much more Beckett, Auden, Poe, St. Sebastian. But of course I'll read it all.
Once again I was looking up words like crazy. Like CRAZY. Why I feel so stupid reading these stories is beyond me, but Sierra did a great job opening up my vocabulary. Though I doubt the new words will stick.
I cried more than I thought I would. All the "Eight Years Ago" memories held my heart hostage.
~I volunteered to read an advance copy.

This was a wild ride (pun intended), especially the last few chapters. I can definitely see why some people ended up hating it and then the author adds salt to the wound by dropping that huge bomb at the end. Similar to the first one, this isn’t a book for the faint of heart, this one even more so.
Unfortunately, this was pretty boring about 50% of the way through. I wasn’t as engaged with the characters as I was in the first book. The whole conflict between Auden and Saint once revealed was silly and pointless. I was expecting something bigger had happened between them, but was let down to know it all bottled down to miscommunication. Just. Sigh. The rest of the characters were also kinda pushed aside to have Saint more in the spotlight, which I wouldn’t have minded, if the rest hadn’t suffered greatly in character development.
The magic, or whatever it is, within Thornchapel is what keeps me coming back. The mystery, the mysticism and magnetism of the place is what keeps me rooted in this series. You can see that the author is really building up to something bigger with each book. I’m anticipating a huge reveal or at least some more background information about what happened between the main characters’ parents. I think that’s the key to know what it is that Thornchapel hides.
There were some passages that were just right up my alley, and can see myself re-reading again for the aesthetic. That’s what’s so lovely about this series. To be honest, the aesthetic it portrays isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but it definitely is mine.

So Wicker Man meets Brideshead Revisited meets Saltburn, with lots of poly s3x. Although, we could never be left with a happy ending :\
