High quality yearning. Outstanding performance by Zachary Webber.

Sierra Simone does SUCH a fantastic job of intertwining ritual and faith with kink and queerness, and the second book in the Thornchapel series delves further into the mystery of Poe’s mom's disappearance, and we get plenty of backstory about exactly what went down between Auden and St. Sebastian all those years ago. It's a wonderfully tender love story within a series comprised of many love stories, even if it ends in shambles and Auden has commenced his plan to EARN St. Sebastian and Poe in present-day. A part of his master plan? Learning how to unlock his full dominant potential from resident expert Rebecca, (so obviously we get a “teach me” scene!). SPEAKING of Rebecca, I love the hints we get of a romance heating up between stern, confident Rebecca and dreamy, bubbly Delphine— it's explored further in the next book and I'll probably need another review to rave about how well Sierra Simone wrote these two. As for Father Beckett, that man's just happy to be there and be of any use…. and I do mean that literally.

Of course it wouldn't be a Thornchapel book if it didn't involve a ritual that may or may not involve sex… and a deeply emotional orgy, but I would be remiss if I did not mention a little scene involving the use of a flashlight…..

Thank you to Sierra Simone's team for the review copy.
