Although I was never the popular kid in high school, I was never a victim of bullying and I don't remember being a bully. I guess my high school was just too big so I just got lost in the crowd. I pray that my child isn't a victim of bullying as she goes through school. It's so heartbreaking to read these YA stories about kids who are so horrible to each other. I hate that peer pressure and society has allowed it to escalate to where it is now. It's sickening that we aren't teaching our kids to be better people.

I really enjoyed this story. This boy had to continually move schools because he was constantly bullied. What was wrong with the school officials to let that happen? It burned me. But he found a light in the darkness in the one person who was willing to be his friend regardless of what everyone else in the school thought. How awesome is that. And they fell in love. Even better.

This really was a sweet coming of age, first love book. Javi reminded me of myself in high school, I was that person like he was that really was friends with anybody, no matter what clique they belonged to, and people just got that. I loved his personality and was so glad he and Tru meet and started their friendship. They're both so sweet together. It's been over 27 years since I've been in high school (Yikes, that's a lot of years, lol) anyways I know how hard it can be for some kids in high school and it's even worse in a lot of ways in today's time. There's a lot that goes on in the book and just too much for me to explain, but I will tell you, it's about how they both deal with everything that has to do with their love for each other. This happens in school so you know everything isn't going to be always pretty but you can read it to find out what happens. A great book. I would love another book to see how they're both doing.

Its not like the book is bad. The problem was just me, tired of this kind of story (bullied bc hes gay, some famous boy that immediately like this loser, the bullier turned out that hes have this dark secret, the loser become a hero) But i'm still enjoying it tho. So 2 stars.
