As with any collection of short-form writing it’s hard to rate the work as a whole, but overall I thought Gender Euphoria was really well done and  thought-provoking. Each essay reflects on one of the writers’ experiences with feeling gender euphoria in spite of any dysphoria and transphobia they experience in other parts of their life. While I was worried at the beginning that this book was going to be very UK-centric, this collection features a broad range of writings from people all over the world with various ethnic, racial and religious backgrounds, as well as featuring many different gender identities. I enjoyed reading each essay, even though there were some I liked more than others, but they are all valuable and worth reading. The main theme of the collection is trans joy but we also get really brilliant analysis on unpacking gender roles and expression and making gender into whatever you want it to be. I also think the collection does a good job discussing the abysmal state of trans healthcare (mainly in the UK) and how there are so many medical and legal barriers to living openly as a trans person. But all of those barriers can’t take away from someone’s gender identity that they’re valid regardless of what society says and can still experience love and joy despite these things. So many of the essays highlight the importance of finding community and people that support you and how that is integral to your wellbeing. I personally resonated with a lot of the essays in this collection, especially the ones by nonbinary individuals. I think this an excellent collection of essays and everyone can take something away from it.

While I would have loved to read stories by *even more* people (maybe instead of reading multiple stories by one author), this was great. I loved reading this book, thank you.
