My daughter and I enjoyed the Disney movie years ago. I found this at a library sale for 25 cents and grabbed it. My 15 yr old daughter enjoyed it so much she asked me to read it. Clever dialogue, characters I cared about and a sweet resolution to the story.
It wasn't bad... it was ok. I didn't like the ending. It was still cute though. : )
i’ve had this book probably since 2011 when borders closed down and i got it during their closing sale but here i am finally reading it almost a decade later in typical cassy fashion.
josh was such an insufferable film snob, it got so old and tired like how dare a teen girl with 0 interest in film not know every director ever. also him idolizing woody allen throughout the entire book made me queasy.
the ending also makes me mad lol. i would say just watch the disney channel movie instead but matt prokop is an abuser so uhh just avoid everything geek charming altogether.

The ending was iffy. I mean, I thought I knew the ending the entire book then the author's like SMACK! New ending. Still, I'm wondering if I would've given the book a lower rating if what I thought would happen happened. I'm kind of sad it didn't.
Yeah, the characters were pretty run-of-the-mill. Dylan was typically air-headed, Josh was some sort of stereotyped emo-geek. It was a fun read though. Very current, will be dated quickly.

Not as awful as I thought it would be, but this book seemed strangely intent on punishing Dylan for being spoiled/ungrateful/popular/what-the-hell-ever. At the point where she was eating lunch with her former nemesis and feeling grateful that they'd even hang out with her, I was done. Seriously, Dylan's comeuppance just felt incredibly excessive, especially since her character arc is jettisoned halfway through the book in favor of Josh's romance with Perfect Pia. I did like that Josh and Dylan were basically bros, but come on, did this book have to spend so much time putting her down just so they could build his love interest up? Dylan never really comes into her own, never really finds self-actualization or an interest or a fucking career path, for the love of god, and that will never fail to irritate me.

I have to admit, I watched the film version and found it a lot more entertaining.
I actually watched some part of the movie before reading it and I must say I was pretty surprised at the change of certain events.Example being Josh and Dylan never did get together and that made me fall in love with the book!Totally different and awesome!
I liked the whole set up,characters, like everything! In a way,it portrayed a little about the life of some celebrities. You know like the really private parts.Loved it!
Overall,totally awesome book!!
