A fun mystery and I enjoyed seeing Mimi and Marshmallow at it again.

Mimi Lee Reads Between the Lines is the second book in the Sassy Cat Series. I would recommend reading book one first for background on set-up and characters.

Mimi and Marshmallow are back but this time they have to figure out who killed a teacher at her sister’s school before Alice is charged with the murder.

What I liked: this is a cute, fun read that took me a day to finish. I love the cozy, almost Nancy Drew feel to the mystery.

Marshmallow is so cute and I looked forward to his conversations with Mimi.

The pacing is good and the clues to solve the case seem to be there, with some red herrings to throw you off.

This book had more about Mimi’s cultural background which I enjoyed.

What didn’t work for me: unless I missed it, Nimbus’s microchip that won’t scan and why she felt sick wasn’t explained.

I could have done without all the strange client requests for their animals hair cuts and treatments.

Josh and Mimi’s relationship, while sweet, seems bland. On the opposite end, the drama with her parents felt unnecessary.

Who should read it: These make excellent easy reads by the pool or on the beach. If you’re a fan of cozy mysteries with no gore check these out.

First read of July and what a good one! I really had no idea 'whodunit' until the reveal. The author did an excellent job with the mystery and I look forward to Mimi and Marshmallow's next adventure!

This was more fun than the first book. Double the cats, double the fun!
