Moist Von Lipwig, a man you can't help but like; whether as a denizen of the Discworld or as the finest conman cursed with morals you'll find.

It's been a year or so since I dove into Pratchett, and having just rewatched Going Postal as a warmup, this was just right. All the jokes resonated, some of them going back many years and books. It's certainly not an entry point book to the series, but it is a happy place for those of us who love it.

Well, I just re-read Making Money and revised my rating from a four to a five. My funny bone must have been more lubricated this time around.

This was a disappointing sequel to "Going Postal." I loved "Going Postal," but "Making Money" did not live up to the precedent the first book set. It was great to see MVL back, but he was not as extreme and not as passionate as he was in the first book.

I love Terry Pratchett. In this book, "reformed" crook Moist von Lipwig, long the respectable Postmaster General, finds himself now in charge of the Ankh-Morpork Bank and Mint. In the process, he accidentally invents paper money and his girlfriend Spike accidentally discovers four golden Umnian golems.
