Reading Off Season was a trip. It felt like a horror film. The most chilling parts of the book were when I was reading it from the point of view of the cannibals. It almost makes you wonder how someone can come up with scenes that feel so real. That's the thing about books though, you can imagine what's going on in the way that you perceive them. Let's just say I'm switching it up for this next book. I need a short break before I read something like this again.

Gruesome! The amount of body limbs flying off is quite staggering.
But that's not the most shocking. Not even the cannibalism. No, the most shocking was when Carla threw her lunch bag into the stream! It really give you a real sense of the era which this was written, when trash was tossed wherever you were. Back when Indians cried pleading for a cleaner America. It really stood out to for me to read that.

DNFed at like 25%, couldn’t sympathize with any of the characters. I also hated how the author wrote about women.
Edit: tried the book again because I wanted to mark it as “finished” on Audible. Still didn’t like it lol.

Creepy little story of a savage family in the woods, watching and waiting for unsuspecting out-of towners. I can't remember too much of it, only that it's worth tracking down.
