Disturbingly gross

Well written but I now know my limit on horror.

CW: Cannibalism, Violence, Gore, Animal Abuse/Death, Sexual Assault, Child Death/Murder

This book was so good! I listened to the audio book, which is my recommendation. The audio version is read by Richard Davidson, who sounds just like a Twilight Zone host and I love it!
This was an intense read about some people that go into the woods and get attacked by the gross cannibals who live there. Very gruesome and exciting. I highly recommend it.

There were zero likable characters in this book. Truly, the only person I was even rooting for was Nick and look how that turned out. There were also WAY too many characters to keep up with and I found myself having to back track and figure out who was saying or doing what. There were also two characters with the same name?! If I'm getting confused about what's going on, it makes it hard to really enjoy the book.

I did like how the more gory scenes that played out though, and I did want to keep reading to figure out what happened next to everyone when the cannibals came around. The cops' POV was a little boring -- necessary, but boring. It took a bit for the pace to pick up in the beginning, but after that it pretty much kept up its intensity until the end of the book which I appreciated!

I didn’t know it was possible to make a book about cannibalism, incest, sa, torture, and murder so boring

I think extreme horror died with Ketchum.
