I wasn’t really a fan of the way women were written in the one. Very obviously a man from 30 years ago trying to write from a woman’s perspective. Story was fine. Nothing special.
Jack Ketchums Off Season was wildly entertaining, gory, disturbing. Yes all the things.
At a remote cabin in a quiet beach town in Maine, Carla along with sister and friends, have a fun relaxing weekend planned. This perfect getaway is quickly turned upside down when they encounter cannibalistic psychos that are hungry and have other plans for the group.
This was an entertaining read, although some of the characters continuously made dumb decisions it did not take away from my enjoyment. There were some scenes that had me gagging

Another horror book hyped up by Booktubers. When will I learn?
This was gory and hard to read in parts but honestly is not worth your time. I zoned out quite a bit and could not tell you what happened at the end of this now.

This was my second Ketchum book and I was not disappointed!! I loved how brutal and grotesque the cannibals were and I’m so glad I went with the uncensored version. It was terrifying!!
I was not sure how much I would like Off Season, Ketchum's style is a little different than I normally read. But once the action picks up the dread really built up well. "Enjoyable" brutal horror read.
