I don’t want to say too much and give anything away, but this was such a fun read!

Diverse characters, high school drama, werewolves. What more could you want?

The love story felt a little rushed / out of left field. But then I skimmed back through the novel and there were signs if you knew to look for them. Kinda fun to re-read it that way. There are a few depictions of kissing, but I would say this is more closed door, so no real spice.

But it was a five star read for me. With graphic novels that means the story was clever or emotionally engaging (the former in this case) and the artwork appealed to my sensibilities.

Okay so this had potential, but I feel like a couple of elements fell flat.

The sisterhood and the found family that I was initially expecting was just not there. Or it was there, but it was a skewed version. The way the MC tried so hard to fit into these girls was just not working (or maybe I'm just too introverted for this 😂) Also the fatphobia and the racist micro aggressions from your supposed "friends"?? No thanks 😭

The feminist theme was good at first too (werewolves preying on boys who manipulate and take advantage of girls). But then it got weird. I know they got desperate and they were starving and all, but still doesn't sit right with me.

That being said, the art style and the colors was just too good. I loved flipping the page and getting to see the art there. I also loved the queer/sapphic rep. That one was a lovely surprise.

I found myself really enjoying this story and the darker concept. But it ended in a way where I couldn’t bring myself to give it 4 stars

A story about GIRL DINNER where a werewolf pack of high school girls eat shitty men. It doesn't give the characters nor plot enough time to breathe.

I enjoyed this so much! I had lower expectations bcs of the things I've heard. The mc was asian and throughout the book there were some really unnecessary comments from her friends - which like were meant to be a part of their character, just to show what kind of people they are but I'm sure we would all be good without it. Other than that I really liked it. The plot, the art, the queering of the popular high school girl experience, i had a great time reading this.
