Ever come across a series that you can NOT get enough of? That is what the THIRDS series is for me. It's one of those series that has everything, in every single book. Humor, love, action, and fantastic sex. Ms. Cochet can write humor in a story then turn around and have such a great serious scene that keeps you wanting more. This book had all the THIRDS agents in it but it was Ethan Hobbs and Calvin Summers story. Oh man, these two men, they've had it hard for years but finally they are getting what they both deserve. Not only are they both dealing with Ethan's issues, they are both learning how to be in a committed relationship with each other. Ethan and Calvin have been friends since childhood but for years Calvin has been in love with Ethan. Once Calvin tells Ethan how he really feels things really start to heat up between them.
Can't wait to read the next book in the series, more Dex and Sloan...Yay!!
ARC given for honest review

So this felt a whole lot more filler than it should have. I loved Hobb's and Calvin and I still do though I don't feel this book entirely did them justice. I went in expecting I suppose Amy Lane level angst and I did not get that. It was a meandering story which while I enjoyed I felt could have held a lot more power. There was the quick whack of angst at the end right before Charlie's usual cliffhanger. The kink was kind of thrown out of left field. I like kink but this kink felt weirdly thrown in and out of place done for shits and giggles. I kept putting it down throughout the day though it wasn't a trial to read it. It was the usual enjoyable Charlie but this one lacked something that the others had which is sad. As I already said I was expecting a lot more angst and more into Calvin having issues with being a sniper or Ethan having more issues. Hobb's and Calvin's story which should stand out from Ash and Cael or the four Dex and Sloane kind of mushed about and left me feeling tired and melancholy. It marched along like a good filler book to set up the next Dex and Sloane which I usually wouldn't have a problem with but for whatever reason this time I do. When they get pieces in Thirds Thursdays its beautiful and angsty and that was not here. I will read the next book because cliffhanger. -sigh-

Cal and Ethan’s turn, and despite adding up close and personal into their friendship, that element of their relationship is still on the DL.
The move to officialdom and the team knowing happens gradually.
They are still TIN training and I enjoyed Cal’s way to evade Ash. We also get to see the serious side of Cal’s job and it’s ramifications.
The Hobbs family drama’s unfold too - the why of the strained relationship between the brothers, the fathers illness and we found out why Rafe is so angry.
And then just when it all seems to have calmed down, there is a call in the night!

Too much play like little kids and not enough manliness, too much cutesy pie and not enough grown man. If my DH did even a quarter of the cutesy, lovey dovey stuff I'd be hauling him off to the psych to see what happened to my man !!! Though I still love the series and hope we get back on track. This book has been the worst of the series but still gets 3.5 stars from me (down to 3 for GR.

I have to say that I love the Thirds series. It's goofy fun with a bit of suspense and a lot of heart and I am all about it. That said, this book didn't really do it for me. I wanted to like it, I really did, but about an hour in I realized that I wasn't even paying attention to it. If you quizzed me I'm honestly not sure I could tell you more than two things about what happened. Maybe it's just me, but I just never felt like the story went anywhere or had much of a focus, it was mostly just Ethan and Calvin whining and screwing with some convoluted side story about a hostage taker and then a big dramatic cliffhanger at the end. Hopefully, the next book will get back to what I love best about this series and leave the pointless melodrama behind.

Now this is more like it!!!! Charlie Cochet made up for a so-so book five with Ethan and Calvin's story. It was deep, heartfelt, and unique. Gone was the unnecessary angst and we were given real, raw grit and with touches sweetness. I loved how the author handled the real issues and gave us an inside look at the struggles these characters faced.

I love these boys and this whole team. I feel I've gotten to know and understand each one, like they are people in my life...LOL...if only. I can't wait to see where the next book takes us.
informative mysterious reflective medium-paced

- The Good: having Ethan's POV and understanding better how he's dealing with his disablity.
- The "Bad": everything else. It was a bit dull

*mild spoiler*
Also, I was a bit upset with the Rafe's situation. I felt bad for him but that didn't excuse all the time he was a dick to everyone. People were forgiving him too easily for me!

This would have been a 5 star read for me but it had a cliffhanger and I really HATE cliffhangers. Not all the books in the series end on a cliffhanger but a few of them have. This series has been awesome so far. Catch a Tiger by the Tail has tied with book 1 to be my favorite of the series. It had one of my favorite scenes I've read this year or ever and I know I will think about if for a long time to come, two word coffee and box. This was Calvin and Hobbs book and it left me with warm fuzzies where those two are concerned. I highly recommend this series.
