When I grow up I want to be Kate Daniels!
I love this series. It gets better with each story. Kate and Curran hit some troubled times and it is/was a roller coaster of emotions for me. Tragedy strikes our group of furry friends and I was left with my mouth hanging open. Again, another outstanding adventure with my FAVORITE characters. Definitively on my read again and again list!

*Disclaimer: I read all 10 books in this series back to back in two weeks and I couldn't stop reading long enough to review each book when I finished it, so this is a review written after finishing and loving all 10 books*
This book was really entertaining because we got to see more of the world this is set in, met people from different packs, who were the worse, and see different magical creatures from various mythologies. Also, in this book, it feels like the characters are in greater danger, which proves true since so many are hurt through it.
There's some conflict in this book between Kate and Curran that didn't completely make sense with who they are as characters and I felt like it was done because it was convenient, especially since it got resolved really easily when it was no longer needed for them to spend time apart.
I loved all the side characters from previous books that we got to spend time with in this book and the new characters that were introduced. Also, Hugh is a very charismatic bad guy, and his interactions with Kate were interesting, especially the sword fight.

I gobbled this and book 5 up in one day.
now I feel empty and lost.
I got so involved with the characters that when this book ended, I was a bit shell shocked( the ending is a good one). but it had a cliffhanger feeling about it( even though it isn't). also knowing there are no other books yet....I'm pissed off that I let myself get so involved with this series.
but the little angel on my shoulder tells me its just awesome so don't stress.
I can't help but stress.....what on earth will I read now?!

Really torn on the rating to give. Ultimately going with a 3.5 on this
Why torn? The plot machinations are fantastic, the setting is different - moved away from Atlanta to Europe, a long awaited adversary makes his play (No, no, still not that one but close), the action as always is visceral and brutal, and the cause is very just. On the flip side however, the relationship drama is starting to get painful, and the dues ex machinas are getting too convenient. Fantasy wouldnt exist without a convenient Dues Ex Machina (think of Gandalf and his eagles) but there's just a whole lot of them in this book and that kind of does grate.

Definitely recommend anyone and everyone to read it :)

This book is slightly weaker to me, just because the secret keeping and miscommunication is annoying. I upped it to 5 stars on this reread though, because I fucking love Hugh. He's such a crazy dick.
I had ups and downs with this book, but the story was so amazing. I liked the different setting and the boat trip was so special, I had no idea about those different kinds of shifters, but Kate and Curran managed to kill them all.
The gang is all together because Curran was invited to work as a bodyguard, but of course Kate decided to went with him and after that the numbers only growed. Andrea and Raphael managed to get inside the group along with Aunt B. But for me the most different and surprising was the Doc.
I liked the story and of course seeing what Hugh is really after, but the different mythologies and creatures made this book perfect for me.
