Hilarious and delightful, first piece of Sedaris’s work I’ve read but certainly won’t be the last.

I had put this on hold at the library a few days ago and I got it tonight, along with two other books I had put on reserve. How am I ever going to read all of these books?

Part humorous essay, part combination travelogue and diary. Riotously funny and intriguing by turns.

Enjoyed it thoroughly: some of the essays are lighter than others, but I did really like "The Smoking Section" where he writes about addiction and moving to Japan to quit cigarettes. There's a reprise of him in language class again: this time in Japanese class. His sense of humor has not left him, nor his sense of the strangeness of the world.

A really interesting read, but after Squirrel Meets Chipmunk and Holidays on Ice, I expected more in the humor department.
Not saying it's a bad book, but. Enh.
