Once again, I find the Marc Thompson narrated books challenging, but not in a good way. Quiet. Loud. Loud music and/or sound effects.
I despise how large a role animal abuse and murder played in this series.
My husband loves this series, the interconnected nature across middle-grade to adult fiction and comic books. He read all of them. I wanted to love this as much as he did.

A very good conclusion to a series which sometimes made me question why I was putting in so much time lol. All in all, I really liked the series. The last few hours of the book dragged though. And Marc Thompson was doing a little bit too much with the acting at some points.
I want to start this review off by mentioning how much I have loved this series and how much it means to me. I picked up Light of the Jedi very early on after getting into reading, and this series has been one my favourites ever since. Whilst I don't think that this is the strongest book of the series, I still had a great time with it and it handled concluding such a large series so well.
First of all the positives. All of the major characters that we have followed and that were present in this finale have grown so much throughout and still have here, with them all getting very satisfying endings. Bell and Reath have been particular favourites of mine and I am so happy with how their stories went. We spend a lot of time with the main group of Jedi, but we also spend a good amount of time on Eriadu with new characters, as well as returning characters that haven't always been a focus. It was really great have characters appear that I haven't thought about since Phase 1, and I had a good time with the new characters. One of the biggest positives of this series has been the Nameless, and they did not disappoint here. I loved exploring their home world and getting a deeper understanding of them as a species.
I am very happy to have gotten such satisfying endings to so many amazing characters, unfortunately though this wasn't necessarily the case for everyone. Some characters that have appeared elsewhere in The High Republic(mainly the comics) were brought into this book and added nothing noteworthy, they were either brought in for shock value or to increase the number of Jedi present when much more important characters should have been included. It's unfortunate not to get really any Vernestra even though she has been in many of these books and for her to get replaced by characters that should have finished their stories in the comics they were usually present in. I also felt that Porter's story was quite rushed here.
Overall the positives definitely out weigh the negatives, and overall the book was a great conclusion. I personally just wasn't happy with some of the choices made considering the other places certain characters could have appeared in. This is still one of my favourite series and I hope that Star Wars will still explore this time period.
