JESUS…WHAT A RIDE…I’ve been so hyped to read Words of Radiance as I’ve heard from many people this is the best in the series. It was truly an incredible experience. I was literally gasping and OMG’ing at the twists and turns the book took me in, as always watching Sanderson’s incredible foreshadowing play out is what makes these books so fun. Up til the very end it felt like the season finale with every reveal, god I had a blast coming up with theories based on the clues and learning what the truth really was. Roshar becomes even more interesting than before through the way the story plays out and I just love how massive it keeps growing through the worldbuilding.
I love how much time we got to spend with Kaladin, Shallan, and Adolin as individuals in the previous book before they finally meet up. It really makes their interactions feel like a prize we finally won. They have so much chemistry and banter in a way that didn’t feel annoying and they offer such interesting dynamics to the social commentary as well. There’s one section of the book…if you know then you know, but I was crashing out so badly over how good the relationship building was to read in that section. I love these characters and I love that we got to know them so much better in their personal journeys in this book compared to The Way of Kings, especially Shallan. Her arc in this book was so emotional and she really showed amazing growth, making her so much more enjoyable to read.
The reveal of the Ghostbloods and their operations were so interesting to me, adding a layer of a secret society to the already jam-packed story was so fun. There’s still so much mystery surrounding them and I’m so curious to see what their true goals are and how far their connections spread. I also love how much more of the Parshendi we got a look into, seeing things from their perspective really once again expands the narrative and humanizes them which is so important to contrast how Alethi and humankind treat them. There are so many other societies revealed through interludes and parallel plots going on, and once again love these interludes as a narrative tool, I think it’s brilliant.
This really truly feels like The Beginning. It’s so action packed but also filled with reflection and thoughtful character building, and the world keeps getting clearer but also so mysterious with new questions added. These books have not felt as heavy as their page count had made me think they’ll be, I’m so hooked and having so much fun reading them. Needless to say I can’t wait to continue!

What a fabulous read. I devoured this monster in 3 weeks and enjoyed every minute of it.
The avengers but in a game of thrones meets dune setting, with tolsoy-levels of time dedicated to character development

"Honor is dead, but I'll see what I can do." AHH! INCREDIBLE book, the worst thing about it is I couldn't put it down!
I still have a huge soft spot for Kaladin, but there's fantastic character arcs all around. Shallan's in particular.
There was something about the ending that I didn't love? I can't quite put my finger on what it was... But I'm not letting it affect my rating because I had so much joy reading this book!
Gonna make an active effort to read Oathbringer a bit slower, this isn't a series to rush. Journey before Destination.
