God, I needed this. Living with chronic pain sucks. Period, full stop. But reading this book of brilliant, decisive prose reminded me that I'm not alone, that there are books and people and groups out there full non-patriarchal advice and support. This book also reminded me of the importance of being honest about how I feel to others. I'm not going to say "I'm fine" anymore. This is the push I needed to really delve deep into how pain affects my life.

This is a must read for EVERYONE! Especially those in the medical field, those with chronic pain/conditions, and women. But honestly, just everyone.

This was such a raw and well-written book dealing with very heavy, but unfortunately common and relevant, topics.

This book-long essay deals with real life for someone living with fibromyalgia.

As a medical student and woman, this resonated with me so much and the topics in this book need to be discussed more. The connection between trauma and chronic pain.

I started thinking about this book again, and it turns out I originally read it in January 2017. Maybe it's something I need to re-read every year? The trauma parts resonate more. But everything feels more intense these days especially pain.

If you experience chronic pain, have fibromyalgia, have been sexually assaulted, or are simply a woman - this is a MUST READ. I am so thankful for Amy's work. I have chronic pain, fibromyalgia, been sexually assaulted twice, and am a female that is highly aware of the misogynistic culture we live in. I feel so understood and visible after reading this. Thank you.

This was quite possibly the best and most resonant book I’ve ever read about chronic illness. I have a lot of thoughts about it but I’m not sure I can articulate them right now, but I will just say: it was very empowering, as someone who’s struggled with chronic illness that has enormously impacted my life and what I’m capable of, to see many of the things I’ve found myself thinking about written out this way. Just because you deal with a condition or illness that medicine doesn’t understand or know how to treat yet doesn’t mean it isn’t real. Your pain is real. Your struggle matters. Your story matters.
