The Julian Chapter

Two sides to every interaction. Well done. This is a must read if you've read Wonder.

⭐3⭐

Positively wonderful!!!!

More of a 2.5. I thought it would make me like Julian more...

I am telling you guys, Parenating is no easy job! Don't justify your kids unkind actions by any means just to make him happy. These kind of endearments may be causing your child to be a Bully, for he knows you got his back no matter how horrible his actions might be.

Readers could only guess what he was thinking. [b:The Julian Chapter|20878809|The Julian Chapter (Wonder #1.5)|R.J. Before judging him please read this book.

One mistake doesn't define you.

Yes, Julian made a horrible mistake. But that doesn't define him, for he is remorseful for his ruthless action at the end. Moreover, he possess enough courage to take the responsibility of his wrong deeds which makes him a wonderful kid!

Julian's voice was missing from [b:Wonder|11387515|Wonder|R.J. Palacio|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1366213431s/11387515.jpg|16319487], an absence that I felt. This additional short completes the story for me. I wanted to strangle Julian and his parents at times, but I feel he explains and redeems himself in the end.

I'd love to see this included in future editions of the main book and hope that teachers who have their students read the novel will also have them read the bully's perspective.

I really appreciate that R.J. Palacio published this additional chapter to [b:Wonder|11387515|Wonder|R.J. Palacio|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1366213431s/11387515.jpg|16319487] with Julian's back story. Everyone has a story, even the bully. Not everyone is going to make the best choices the first time around and this story helps to humanize Julian (and his family) for readers. I don't feel that it was as compelling as Auggie's story in Wonder, but it did show how Julian grew over time and how one can learn from their mistakes.

included in my copy of Wonder. Definitely helped give some closure to the story.

Julian’s grandma is the only one in the story that kept me from throwing the book out the window. I wanted to slap him and his parents for their lame reasons for doing what they did. These four stars go to Grandma – and only Grandma!
